Hi all,
I dont know what I did to cause this, but my skype notification sounds won't play. I went into the sounds settings,checked off what sounds I wanted to play for different things and made sure the sounds weren't muted. Nothing will play. I hope I explained my problem wel enough. Any advice would be greatly apreciated.

Okay. I will assume you don’t have more than one sound card.
Try this in case you’ve missed something.
Alt T. Arrow up to options hit enter.
Next arrow to sounds, do not hit enter on this one, just leave it there.
Tab once and you are on ring tones, and that will be checked or not checked.
Tab once more and it tells you the one it is set to. In my case Skype modern.
Tab again and it says play this sound, so play it to see if it works.
You play it by pressing the spacebar.
Tab again and you find mute all sounds. Check it out by pressing the spacebar and seeing what happens until you get to not muted. When it is not muted the button says mute all sounds. If they are muted it says enable all sounds.
Tab again and it says reset to default.
Keep going until you get to save.
If you have no success, reinstall Skype.
no, if you have no success, try this next.
go to toolsoptions. go to audio settings. there's 3 things to check. be sure that all the combo boxes for sound cards is set to your sound card. the one is for playback, the one is for recording, and the third is for skype sound output.
Yes, that works, but only if Skype is not set to automaticly do it.
Several other issues to I don't know that can be have, like operating system.
When reinstalling Skype it fixes much of this stuff without having to go fishing. Smile.
